Migrating from one OS X Machine to another for FirstClass Server Installs

Before we start, please follow the OS X Tuning Recommendation Guide for your NEW server machine.

- If you have not done so, create an OS X admin level account named "fcadmin" on the new machine. Make certain that this user has been granted the privledge of administrating the server.

While logged into the new OS X machine as fcadmin:

Download the correct installer for the version your current production server is running

If there are additional downloads required to update your FirstClass Server to the correct version, please download and install those as well, restarting your new FirstClass Server after each update.

- Run the New Installer, and elect to perform the "default" install option. Don't worry about any of the configuration info, or Licensing information as it will be installed when you migrate your current network store/post office.

- Run any other upgrade Installers as nessesary.

- Replace the installed "/Library/FirstClass Server/Volumes/Master/fcns" with your mirrored 'fcns8001' folder from your production Server and rename it back to 'fcns' OR Replace the installed "/Library/FirstClass Server/Volumes/Master/fcns" with your fcns folder from your production server.

- To ensure the fcns folder has proper file permissions do the following:
- Open the /Applications/Utilities/Terminal, and type the following commands followed by Enter.
cd "/Library/FirstClass Server"
-then
./fcfixvol Master fcns
This can take a few minutes, it depends on the size of your FCNS.

- Once it completes, start the FirstClass Server:

Remember to configure the "/Library/FirstClass Server/inetsvcs.fc" file if you have Internet Services running on the same computer so that it points to your FirstClass Server address, or local host. You should try copying the INETSVCS.FC file from the original machine's "/Library/FirstClass Server" folder. If Internet Services fails to start up, check the Internet Services log FCISD.LOG. If it complains about an invalid userid or password, see the following technote:
