 How Internet Services Mail Alias Settings work in FirstClass 7.1
Legend and notes for the table below:
The Automatic Aliases and Inbound Mail Addressing settings can be found in the Advanced Directory form of Internet Services on the admin desktop.
The table assumes that all indicated fields on the User Information Form contains information (i.e. the Mail Aliases field contains information and is not blank).
Aliases Only based rejections will immediately reject email in the initial SMTP session with Internet Services.

Allow Short Forms & Exact Match Only will initially accept but then reject the email with a mailer daemon reply.
Some mail relay tests will fail when Internet Services is configured this way.
To work around this, switch to Aliases Only and restart Internet Services in such situations.
Remember to switch it back and restart Internet Services again after the test.
The table assumes a unique user (i.e. no other matching or short form userids, first names, last names, or mail aliases).
For non-unique user scenarios, the following exceptions may apply (as noted on the table):
Please keep in mind that remote names and conferences can add to the complexity of these exceptions.
Footnotes:
* If the Mail Aliases field is empty, then this will change from Rejected to Accepted.
# If a user has the same first name or last name as another user, then this will change from Accepted to Rejected.
& In addition to #, if a short form matches more than one user, then this will change from Accepted to Rejected.
FILN means First Initial and Last Name
FN & LN means First Name_Last Name
